There’s a saying from Tonny Robbins, “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”
As such, a goal is a key in moving inch by inch closer to our destination and a powerful engine to our own definition of “success”.
Maybe one of us experiences setting goals for the sake of just setting goals. Setting goals because it is just needed. Setting goals because others set goals too.
But why do we really need to set a goal?
Check out below reasons and be ready to be a better goal-setter!
1. Goals keep us inspired and motivated.
Our goal is always associated with our deepest why’s. And our deepest why’s are the fuel of our everyday grind. When we keep a goal, we will always be reminded that we need to achieve it especially on down times, on hard times. We will keep ourselves moving because of the desire to achieve our deepest why.
2. Goals provide focus and send you direction.
As always said, our goal shall be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound). Our goal sets ourselves in the only direction we need to do on a certain aspect at a specific period of time. When we have a goal, we don’t tend to feel vague and lost on the things that we do. We don’t use to centralize because our eyes are only honing the target.
Likewise, a goal guides us to a step by step task in order to attain small steps that will soon lead to a bigger one.
3. Goals send you to live and be the best version of yourself.
We only live once, so always give your best shot! But how are we going to live your best if we don’t have any reason to live?
And yes, another realization that most reasons to live are still, associated with our deepest desire. It may be becoming a millionaire at the age of 30, having a farm and retire by 40, or just having a healthy body and live until 60, visiting all continents within 4 years, becoming a CEO of a certain company, write a book before you die, or create a charity or foundation, whatever it is, it pushes us to our limits.
A goal helps us overcome our fears, weaknesses, insecurities, disabilities – -ourselves. It sends us to a venue where we really need to work hard and become our best version and realize that we improved a lot along with our achievements.
Goal is about upgrading. It is about having a happy and purposeful life.
4. Goals allow us to measure progress.
When we set a goal, we also set our foot forward to every inch or tiny acts we are doing.
It provides us to let our vision become quantifiable. It gives numbers, percentages, and never be a “work in progress”. Setting goals measure how well we perform or if there’s still a need for improvement.
And for us, the most important thing a goal gives is…
5. It builds us to become a happy, satisfied well-being.
Being happy takes a lot of practice, time, hard work and yes, goal plays a big role in the equation.
When you have a goal and you achieved it, your brain sends signals on a feeling of being rewarded and every reward, no matter how small or big it is, gives a person a sense of fulfillment, pride, and complacency.
These factors serve as a big contribution in living the life of our dreams, living the life of purpose, and of course, becoming satisfied, becoming whole.
Because what really matters after all is pursuing a goal that will purely feed your soul.
So what are you waiting for, go now and assess what your goal really is! 🙂
